Die Klasse Klima lädt ein in die Küche. Denn something is cooking: der Planet wird immer heißer, die Klimakrise umfassender und uns rauchen die Köpfe von Fragen der Vereinbarkeit von Klimagerechtigkeit und Kreativsein. Deshalb wollen wir zusammenkommen, wie wir es zum Essen oft tun: In Küchen, Kantinen und Cafés. Zum Kochen und Konservieren, (Fr)Essen, Diskutieren und fantasieren. Wir fragen uns, wie die sozial-ökologische Transformation in Künsten und Gestaltung aussehen kann - systemisch und privat.
Wir laden zum Aufstand in die Küche - Denn wer sitzt überhaupt am Tisch und entscheidet in der Klimakrise? Wer ist (nicht) eingeladen? An welchen Orten und in welchen Ökosystemen steht dieser Tisch? Welche Rezepte gibt es, um miteinander und mit Entscheidungsträger*innen ins Gespräch zu kommen? Und was ist eigentlich mit nicht-menschlichen Lebewesen? Wie gehen wir mit unausgesprochenen Konflikten um? Wie geht Haltung zeigen in einer Kreativbranche, die ihr Fundament auf klimaungerechten Praktiken baut?
Mit "Something is cooking" möchten wir die Küchen Berlins als intersektionale Orte des Zusammenkommens nutzen, wo etwas vorbereitet oder konserviert wird, wo die kleinen und großen Fragen des Lebens ihren Platz finden. Als Raum der Auseinandersetzung und des historischen Aufstandes wohnen der Küche Potentiale inne, die (radikale) Veränderungen fordern und das Brodeln der Speisen nicht nur sinnbildlich neue Dinge entstehen lassen.
The Klasse Klima invites you into the kitchen. Because something is cooking: the planet is getting hotter and hotter, the climate crisis is becoming more widespread and our heads are spinning with questions about how to reconcile climate justice and creativity. That's why we want to come together, as we often do for meals: In kitchens, canteens and cafés. To cook and preserve, (fr)eat, discuss and fantasize. We ask ourselves what the socio-ecological transformation in the arts and design can look like - systemically and privately.
We invite you into the kitchen for a revolt - after all, who sits at the table and makes decisions in the climate crisis? Who is (not) invited? In which places and in which ecosystems is this table located? What recipes are there to get into conversation with each other and with decision-makers? And what about non-human beings? How do we deal with unspoken conflicts? How do we show attitude in a creative industry that builds its foundations on climate-unfriendly practices?
With “Something is cooking”, we want to use Berlin's kitchens as intersectional places to come together, where something is prepared or preserved, where the small and big questions of life find their place. As a space of confrontation and historical uprising, the kitchen has the potential to demand (radical) change and to allow the bubbling of food to create new things, and not just symbolically.
